One of the representatives from Black Hawk county, was born on a farm in Butler county, Iowa, November 6, 1864. He was educated in the country schools, State Teachers' college, and Cornell college. His father and mother were pioneers in Butler county. He moved to Cedar Falls April 10, 1890, where he has since resided. Was recorder of Black Hawk county from 1895 to 1900. On the 5th of April, 1899, he was married to Lulu Probert of Shell Rock, Iowa. They have five children, Harriett M., Leslie C. Donald P., Margaret E. and Paul J. All members of the Methodist Episcopal church. He is a Knight Templar, a Shriner, and a republican in politics. In 1912 he was elected as a delegate to the republican national convention at Chicago. Elected representative in 1916, re-elected in 1918 and 1920.

C. B. SANTEE One of the representatives from Black Hawk county, was born in Butler county, Iowa, on the 6th day of November, 1864, on a farm near where the town of Kesley now stands. He was educated in the country schools, at the State Teachers College and at Cornell College. His father and mother were pioneers in Butler county. He moved to Cedar Falls on the 10th day of April, 1890, where he since resided with the exception of about six years, or from January 1,1895, to September 1, 1900, when he was recorder of Black Hawk county and lived in Waterloo. His time as recorder would have expired on the first day of January, 1901, but being anxious to get into business again, he resigned on the first day of September. On the 5th of April, 1899, he wan married to Lulu Probert of Shell Rock, Iowa. They have five children, Harriet M., Leslie C, Donald,P., Margaret E. and Paul J. The entire family are members of the Methodist Episcopal Church. He is a Knight Templar, also a Shriner, and always has been a republican in politics. In 1912 he was elected as a delegate to the Republican National Convention at Chicago as a supporter of Senator A. B. Cummins.
