Representative from Decatur county, was born in Decatur county, Iowa, November 2, 1891, and resided on a farm near Leon in this county all his life. Graduated from Leon high school in 1912. Entered Iowa State college in the fall of 1912 taking A. H. course, was on varsity base ball team spring of 1914. Left school after 1914 and taught rural school for five terms near his home. Was elected clerk of district court of Decatur county in the fall of 1916. Entered army September 4, 1917, and was at Camp Dodge for seven months. Transferred to Camp Jackson, S.C., received a commission there, and was sent to School of Fire, Ft. Sill, Oklahoma, received a certificate from this school and was transferred to Camp Kearny, California, in 64th F. A. Was discharged from that place and returned to farm near Leon, Iowa. Was vice commander of American Legion post at Leon. Also secretary of Decatur County Farm Bureau. Member of Farmers' Union and belongs to Odd Fellows, Knights of Pythias, Knight Templar, Shriners and Elks. Was elected representative in fall of 1920. Republican in politics.
