Was educated in the country schools and Fairfax high school, later attending Western college, later known as Leander Clarke college, now merged with Coe college, Cedar Rapids. Was married to Hanna M. Johnson of Delaware county, Pennsylvania, March 22, 1882. To this union were born three children, Charles J., Sara H. and Ruth M. Has always followed the occupation of farming and stock raising and importing of Belgian and Percheron horses. Is a member of the Congregational church and is a thirty-second degree Mason, a Shriner and a member of the Sons of the American Revolution. Elected representative in 1916. Re-elected in 1918 and 1920. A republican in politics.
