Was raised on a farm, attending the rural schools and later taking a business course at Highland Park college, Des Moines. Was married March 14, 1895, to Flora B. Gary. At present time is engaged in farming. Has lived in Tama county twenty-two years. A member of United Brethren church and also a Royal Arch Mason. Elected in 1918 and 1920. A republican in politics.
