Went to Ogle county, Illinois in 1873, was married in 1879 to Mary Idell Hitchcock and moved to Iowa in February, 1880. Is a farmer, giving especial attention to cattle feeding; and operates, with his sons, a farm of over one thousand acres. He has been president of the State Savings bank, Ute, Iowa, since 1909. In 1907 he was elected county supervisor of Monona county and held that position for nine years. In 1916 he was elected to the state legislature, and was re-elected in 1918 and again in 1920, and is a republican in politics.
