Representative from Montgomery county, was born on the farm where he now lives, February 2, 1875. Was educated in the rural schools and public schools in Villisca. Graduated from Tarkio college, Tarkio, Mo., and later at Yale university in 1907. Taught in the public schools of Iowa, at Oskaloosa in the high school and was superintendent of schools at Morning Sun and Perry. Retired from school work in 1912 and has been engaged in farming and live stock breeding since 1915. He has been connected with the farm bureau since its inception, serving for some time on the county executive board. Has served for four years as chairman of board of directors of the Villisca Cooperative association. Has served on the county board of education. Was married June 23, 1919, to Hazel E. Phillips of Oskaloosa, Iowa, and has one son. Is a member of the Presbyterian church. Elected representative in 1922. Republican in politics.
