Representative from Henry county, was born in Galesburg, Ill., in 1857, of Swedish parentage. Came to Swedesberg, Iowa, 1868. Attended district school and a few weeks at Howe's academy, Mount Pleasant. Lived on a small farm until 1883. Became station agent at Olds, serving as such fourteen years, during which time he also engaged in other business. Served as secretary and school director many years, also as secretary and president of a local insurance association for a long time. Was one of the organizers of the Olds Savings bank, of which he is still president. Was a road supervisor for a long time, and long before the King drag was heard of, he built and operated a drag in his district. Married Minnie A. Alter, in 1895. They have four children, one son and three daughters, two of whom are graduates of, and one a junior at Iowa Wesleyan college. The youngest is a student at the Olds consolidated school. Has lived on a farm near Olds since 1897, farming and looking after his business interests. Elected representative in 1920. Re-elected in 1922. A republican in politics.

Was a road supervisor for a long time and long before the King drag was heard of, he used, built and operated a drag in his district. Was assistant postmaster at Olds for a long period. Married Minnie A. Alter, 1895. They have four children, one son and three daughters, two of whom are graduates of, and one a freshman of Iowa Wesleyan college. The youngest is a student at the Olds Consolidated school. Has lived on a farm near Olds since 1897, farming and looking after his business interests. Always a republican in politics.
