Representative from Hancock county, was born at Greenwich, O., November 30, 1852. Lived on a farm until fourteen years of age, attended rural schools and later night school in Cleveland, O. Came to New Hampton, Iowa, in 1876, learned telegraphy. Station agent for the C.M. & St. P. railroad at Britt in 1879. Went into banking business in 1890 and has continued actively in same ever since, is now vice president of Commercial State bank of Britt. Was married to Tena S. Rasmussen on July 12, 1911; has two sons, Walter and Frank, by former marriage. Has served the town of Britt several terms as school director and councilman and has been school treasurer for past twenty years. Served as treasurer of the Britt chapter of the American Red Cross and as county chairman and vice chairman in liberty loan campaigns during the war. Is a Mason and a Shriner. Elected representative in 1920, and re-elected in 1922. Is a republican in politics.

Lived on a farm until fourteen years of age, attended rural schools and later night school in Cleveland, Ohio. Came to New Hampton, Iowa, in 1876, learned telegraphy.
