Representative from Fremont county, was born on a Fremont county farm in 1878. He attended the country school and Shenandoah high school, graduating from Swarthmore College with degrees of A.B. and A.M. He taught in high schools and colleges, the last being in Iowa State College, 1914-15, after which he returned to the farm which has since been his home. He was married in 1917 to Alma Fallers of Fremont county. They have three children, Gwendolyn, Joe and Marybelle. He has been active in community affairs, being an officer of the Farm Bureau almost from its beginning; for two years was county farm bureau president. He is a director of the Farmers' Co-operative Exchange of Shenandoah, a co-operative elevator company. For years he has been a worker in the Church of Christ of Shenandoah, and for some time was chairman of the official board. He is an Odd Fellow and a Knights Templar. A republican in politics. Elected representative in 1924.
