Representative from Cherokee County; was born in Will county, Illinois, December 16, 1870, and moved with his parents to Cherokee county, Iowa, in 1880. He acquired the greater part of his education in the public schools of Cherokee county. Engaged in general farming and breeding Shorthorn cattle. On May 24, 1893, he was united in marriage to Miss Mary Randall, of Warren, Ill. They are the parents of eight children-five boys and three girls, all living. Mr. Dewar is an Odd Fellow, Mason, a Modern Woodman and a Presbyterian. He gives his political allegiance to the republican party and has served his township in the capacity of trustee and clerk, also on the school board for many years.
