Representative from Cedar county, was born in Hanover, Germany, September 18, 1849. He spent his boyhood in the fatherland, coming to the United States in 1868. He attended a private school in Davenport and later entered the implement business. Accumulated several farms which he now owns and was in the real estate business for several years. Financially interested in and director of several banks. Married September 2, 1874, to Miss Minnie Feldhahn of Durant and to them were born seven children. Was mayor and councilman and has been school director for many years. Member of the Lutheran church. Republican in politics.
