Representative from Plymouth county. Native of Iowa and born in Hungerford township where he now resides. Received his education in the rural schools and completed a normal course in Le Mars normal school in 1897. Is now actively engaged in farming near Hinton. In 1922 married Agnes M. Eyres of Le Mars, Iowa. They have two children, Thomas E. and Kathrine Elizabeth. Was elected and served in the house of representatives during the thirty-ninth, fortieth, fortieth extra, forty-first and forty-second general assemblies. A republican in politics.

Representative from Plymouth county, was born on a farm in that county in 1877. Attended the rural schools and graduated from the normal department of the Le Mars Normal school in 1897. Remained on the farm, which joins the town of Hinton. At the death of his father became a member of the firm of Held Brothers, which firm is now engaged in the pure bred live stock and general farming business. As a member of the firm made several trips abroad, importing live stock. In 1922 he married Agnes M. Eyres and since that time they have lived on the home farm and are active in the operation of the same. July 3, 1923, a son, Thomas E., was born to them. Representative Held served in the thirty-ninth, fortieth, fortieth extra and forty-first general assemblies.

Remained on the farm, joining the town of Hinton and at the death of his father (the late Philip Held) became a member of the firm of Held Bros. in 1899, which firm is now engaged in the pure bred live stock and general farming business. As a member of the firm made several trips abroad, importing live stock. Has held several township offices. A member of the local board of education for a number of terms. Is an officer in the county Red Cross organization. Superintendent of Hinton M. E. Sunday school and a member of the Methodist Episcopal church. A republican in politics. Elected representative in 1920.
