Representative from Bremer county, was born on a farm in Lafayette township, Iowa, on February 15, 1874. Has resided on and now owns the farm on which he was born. Received his education in the public schools of Bremer county, and has been actively engaged in farming and stock raising all his life. Has been township clerk six years, director of his school twenty-eight years, president of the farm bureau and at present is director and auditor of the Farmers State Bank of Plainfield. Was married March 4, 1889, to Mamie Larkin, to which union four children were born, Earl, Loey and Edward, who are actively engaged in farming with their father, and Marjorie, who is a teacher in the public schools of Plainfield. Is a member of the Masonic order, and the M. W. A., and the Methodist church. Was elected representative in 1928. A republican in politics.
