Representative from Plymouth county, was born in Sweden October 19, 1865. Came to America with his parents in 1869 stopping first in Chicago, Illinois, for nine months. Then in 1870 the family went further west, locating on a homestead in Union county, South Dakota. After receiving what education the country schools of that date could give, he spent three years in the University of South Dakota, after which he again returned to his father's farm and helped operate it. He married Betsey Johnson of Union county, South Dakota, in 1890. Bought a farm of his own and continued farming it until 1901. He moved to Plymouth county, Iowa, and was engaged in hardware and furniture business in Akron, Iowa, for several years. Was also general manager for the Farmers' Grain Company, of Akron, Iowa, for three years. At this writing, he operates his farm on a fifty-fifty plan with his tenant. He is a member of the farm bureau and belongs to the Masonic order. He is Lutheran by faith and republican in politics. Elected state representative in 1928.
