Representative from Sac county. Born on farm near Castalia, Iowa, February 5, 1877. Moved with parents to farm near Toledo, Tama county, Iowa, 1890. Located at Lake View, Sac county, Iowa, 1902, engaging in furniture business. Entered the automobile business in 1909, active in that line since. Educated rural schools, Toledo high school and Western college. Married November 29, 1902, to Ellen C. Ramsdell, of Tama, Iowa. Two children, Graham M. Dean, born August 10, 1904, and Margaret Shirley Dean, born October 2, 1915. Mayor of Lake View, Iowa, fourteen years. Served as private, Co. K, 49th Inf., U.S. Vols. in United States and Cuba 1898-99. Commissioned 1st lieutenant, U.S.A. 1918 and served in United States only. Member Masonic order, United Spanish War Veterans and American Legion. Republican in politics.
