Representative from Fremont county, was born on a farm in that county June, 1868. He attended the country school at what was called Hard Scrabble. After a year in the public school at Tabor he entered the Western Normal College at Shenandoah, Iowa, where he graduated from the commercial course with the highest honors of his class. He taught a country school one year. In 1889 he was married to Miss Mary Walker and four children were born to them, all of whom have passed to their reward. He lived on a farm all his life until 1903 when he with his wife moved to Randolph where they still reside. He has held offices of township trustee, school director, councilman, secretary of the school board and member of the board of supervisors of Fremont county. His politics are republican.
