Representative from Decatur county, was born on a farm in that county, March 25, 1861. He lived continuously on the farm until 1925, when he moved to Grand River, but still is in partnership with his son, who is engaged in general farming and breeding purebred Hereford cattle. He received his education in the rural schools; raised three children, one daughter, who graduated from the high school at Grand River, and two sons, who are graduates from the agricultural college at Ames. The older son lost his life in the World War. Has been a lifelong republican. Has served in various township offices. Was a member of the board of supervisors six years, president of the farm bureau two years. He is a member of the M. E. church, Masonic and Eastern Star orders. He was elected to represent the sixth district in the forty-third general assembly.
