Representative from Fayette county. Born near Lima, Iowa, June 11, 1893, a son of W. F. and Emma S. Byers. At the age of six years he moved to a farm southeast of West Union. Attended rural school. Graduated from West Union high school in 1913. Chose farming as profession. Traveled extensively in Europe, Asia, South Seas, West Indies, and many other tropical countries. Enlisted in United States army in 1917. Fought with the 13th F. A. before the main fronts of France. Rose to rank of sergeant. Discharged in August, 1919. Member of Fayette county farm bureau and Isaak Walton League. Unmarried. Elected to forty-third general assembly.
