Representative from Wayne county, was born on a farm in Union township, Wayne county, April 11, 1874. His early life was spent on this farm, and his education was received in the rural schools of this community. Was married in June, 1897, to Alice White, and lived on an adjoining farm until 1905 when they moved to New Mexico and took up a homestead. Gave up farming in 1909 and took up railroad location and construction work until 1914 when he was selected county engineer for Wayne county. Was in this office until 1918 when he again took up farming. Was township assessor four years. Elected county auditor in 1924, serving four years until his election in 1928 as representative from Wayne county. Three children have been born to Mr. and Mrs. Burton and they also have two adopted children. He is a Methodist, a Mason and a republican in politics.
