Taught in rural schools of Johnson county and in Shueyville high school, and served as county superintendent of Johnson county schools from 1897 to 1902. In 1904 was married to Miss Caroline Buresh. Has four children, three boys and one girl. Served on the Iowa City board of education six years. Past Grand of Eureka lodge, No. 44, I.O.O.F.; Past Patriarch of Good Samaritan encampment, No. 5; retired captain of Canton, Iowa City, No. 29; Deputy Grand Master I.O.O.F. of Iowa; secretary of Will H.
