Representative from Jones county, was born on a farm in Hardin county, Iowa, March 18, 1882, and moved in 1884 to western Kansas with his parents, coming back to Black Hawk county, Iowa, in a prairie schooner in 1889. Graduated from Epworth Seminary in 1901 and Cornell college in 1904. For ten years thereafter he followed the professions of civil engineering in Mexico and teaching—having taught in Illinois and Arkansas high schools, Drury college and the Nebraska State Teachers' college. He has farmed in Jones county the past thirteen years. Married to Edna May Cramer, June 12, 1907, and has the following named children: John, Helen, Ruth, and Paul. He is the past president of Jones county farm bureau, ex-chairman of Jones county republican central committee, a member of the Presbyterian church, Masonic lodge and O.E.S. He was elected state representative in 1928 and re-elected in 1930. A republican in politics.
