He then entered Northwestern Union college at Le Mars, Iowa, graduating after two years, from their commercial course. He completed a course in law and was admitted to the bar of this state. Taught in the rural schools, and then took up the occupation of farming. Married in 1905 to Ella Rohde. Has one daughter, Elva. Secretary of a township school board fourteen years, and active in community organization work. President of the farm bureau from 1919 to 1923. Elected state representative in 1924 and has served continuously in the forty-first, forty-second, forty-second extra, forty-third, and forty-fourth general assemblies. Member of the Congregational church, I.O.O.F. and Masonic orders. A democrat.
