Representative from Plymouth county, was born in Fayette county, March 6, 1874, and moved with his parents to Plymouth county, 1879. Like many native Iowa boys he received his early education in a rural school. Later in life he attended normal and business college in Le Mars. Married Lucy Weber in 1899 and has five children: Elmer, Frank, George, Herbert, and Doris. Mrs. Kohler died April 12, 1929. On June 10, 1930, he married Henriette Degner. For twenty years he has operated and lived on the same farm. In 1919 he retired to Le Mars. In 1930 he was elected state representative from Plymouth county on the democratic ticket.
