Representative from Emmet county, was born in Mason City, Iowa, November 7, 1872. At the age of seven he moved with his parents to a farm in Seneca township, Kossuth county. He attended district school, completed a commercial course in a business college and attended Iowa State College at Ames two years. Except for three years in Louisiana, associated with his brothers who were levee contractors along the Mississippi, he has always lived in Iowa. Taught school two years. Moved to a farm adjoining Armstrong in 1909 and at present resides in Armstrong. Married in 1900 to Mary Jenson and to this union were born five children: Lloyd, Ione, Lorenzo, Marietta, and Viola. Among other offices of trust filled by him he has served as road superintendent, township trustee and clerk, secretary of the Seneca township district school board eight years, director of the Armstrong consolidated school district eleven years, president of the board eight years, and republican county committeeman. Elected state representative to fill the vacancy in the forty-second extra session of the Iowa legislature caused by the death of R. B. Crone. Re-elected to the forty-third and forty-fourth general assemblies.
