Representative from Washington county, was born in that county, December 11, 1871. Received his early education in the rural school located on the farm that he now owns. He was never able to attend school in the summer time, having to work on the farm to make a living. Thus he succeeded in graduating from the Keota high school in the class of 1891. For four years thereafter he taught school in the winter and farmed in the summer. In the year 1894 he was married to Miss Louella Davis. Two sons were born to this union, Kenneth and Raymond. He is a United Presbyterian by faith. A republican in politics. He has held the following offices of trust: School director, secretary and treasurer, township clerk and assessor, mayor and councilman of Keota and member of the board of supervisors of Washington county. Was elected to the general assembly in 1928 and again in 1930.
