Representative from Lee county, was born on a farm near Primrose, Iowa, December 8, 1865. He attended rural school at Primrose and worked on his father's farm and later engaged in farming for himself, which he has continued ever since in the county he represents. He was married to Linnie F. Pease, October 5, 1893, and to this union three children were born, one dying in infancy and another at the age of seven. A daughter, Helen, 21 years of age, who has finished her college education, now resides at home with her parents. He is a Mason and a Shriner. Elected to the legislature in 1930 and re-elected in 1932. A democrat.
