Representative from Mills county, was born in Germany February 15, 1870. Came to America with his parents in 1873. His father died a month later and it was necessary for him to help work on the farm, get what schooling he could during winter months in the public schools. When twenty-one, bought first land practically on time and was married to Rosa L. Saar. Have ten children, five girls and five boys, all living. Has owned eight hundred acres Mills county land; four hundred acres have been divided among the children. He is still operating four hundred acres. Director Glenwood State bank twenty years, now president; director of Pottawattamie Mutual Fire Insurance Association twenty years; on school board five years; township road overseer five years; president of farm bureau three years; awarded master farmer medal 1930, and member of I.O.O.F. lodge. Serving first term in the legislature. A democrat.
