Representative from Des Moines county, was born at Burlington, Iowa, November 6, 1874, attended the public schools there and has lived all his life in Burlington. Married Elizabeth Martin, October 11, 1898. His parents, Cosmos and Minnie Hartman, were pioneers of the state of Iowa. Mr. Hartman served on the city council, has worked for the C.B.& Q. railroad as mechanic from 1900 to 1911, when he was promoted to supervisor. He is a member of the Masonic order. Serving his second term in the legislature. A democrat.
