Representative from Mitchell county, was born in Harris, province of Slesvig, Germany, September 30, 1878. His parents were Christian and Herlig Hansen of Danish descent. His father migrated to the United States in 1881, and J. P. and his mother and little sister followed in 1882, the family settling near St. Ansgar, Iowa, where the subject of this biography spent his childhood and attended the Spring Valley rural school. In 1905 he was married to Hannah Marie Neilson and to them were born three children, Helen, Leona, and Christian. In 1921, Mr. Hansen and his family moved to Otranto, Mitchell county and they have lived there since. He has been engaged in farming and operating machinery all his life. Serving first term in the legislature. A republican.
