Representative from Linn county, the son of Oliver and Barbara Clark, was born in Linn county. His paternal grandfather came to the county in 1837, with William Abbe, who was the first settler to bring his family into the county. He has spent his entire life on the same farm on which he was born with the exception of three years, one year of which was spent in travel in the United States, and two of which he was salesman for the Austin Western Company, selling road machinery. At one time he owned one of the best herds of shorthorn cattle and poland china hogs in eastern Iowa. Received his education in the public schools and business courses. Has always been active in civic and patriotic organizations. Married in 1929 to Byrd Snyder of Cedar Rapids. Attends Presbyterian church. Serving first term in the legislature. A democrat.
