Representative from Clarke county, was born in Marian county, West Virginia, April 20, 1881. Father having died in 1882, moved with mother and sister to a farm in Clarke county, Iowa, in the spring of 1888. With exception of about five years, has lived in Clarke county since that time. Was married in 1905 to Luella M. Cannon, a Clarke county teacher. Has two daughters, Helen and Virginia. Attended Simpson school of business, Indianola, Iowa, and taught one year in same school and later in business schools in Maryville, Missouri, and DeSoto, Missouri. Returned to Iowa in 1906 to engage in office work and later was traveling salesman for about eighteen years. Was member and president of Osceola school board and at present is engaged in life insurance business. A member of Christian church. Serving first term. A republican.
