Dubuque. Representative from Dubuque county, the eighth son of Thomas E. and Margaret Reilly, was born in Dubuque, Iowa, on the eighth day of December, 1906, educated in the parochial schools of Dubuque and received high school education at Columbia Academy, Dubuque, graduated from Columbia College in 1928 with a B. A. degree. Following graduation served as instructor of English and History at St. Ignatius high school, Chicago, for one year, then entered the college of law at De Paul University, Chicago, and spent the two remaining years in law at the University of Iowa, graduating in 1932 with a degree of Juris Doctor. Admitted to the Iowa bar in 1932 and began the practice of law in Dubuque with George T. Lyon now deceased, and is now associated with Al J. Nelson at Dubuque. Appointed January 15, 1935, by Madam Secretary of Labor, Frances Perkins, to act as referee representing the United States Department of Labor at a hearing at Muscatine, Iowa, for the predetermination of prevailing rates of wages as prescribed by the Davis-Bacon act of 1935. Member of the Dubuque bar association, Knights of Columbus, Catholic Order of Foresters and Phi Alpha Delta national law fraternity. Now serving second term in the legislature. A democrat.

Admitted to Iowa bar in 1932 and began the practice of law at Dubuque with George T. Lyon and is now associated with Al J. Nelson, attorney, at Dubuque. Member of the Dubuque county bar association, Knights of Columbus, Catholic order of Foresters, young democratic club, Phi Alpha Delta national law fraternity. Serving first term in the legislature. A democrat.
