Representative from Woodbury county, was born in Nicholas county, West Virginia, March 18, 1880. He attended public school at Cross Lanes, West Virginia and high school at Fayetteville, West Virginia. Graduated in mechanical and electrical engineering, Scranton, Pennsylvania. Learned the machinist's trade in the South Side Foundry and Machine Works, Charleston, West Virginia. Came to Sioux City in 1907. At the present time is owner and operator of Moore's Machine Works, Sioux City. Married Miss Mayme Price of Charleston, West Virginia, November 6, 1913, have no children. His father was John William Moore, Sr., mother, Ella Iowa (Malcolm) Moore. His grandfather, Dr. John S. Malcolm, pioneered to Iowa in 1848 and homesteaded near Mount Pleasant, and built the first brick house in Mount Pleasant, making the brick in a hand mold. His mother was born in this house in 1860 and named for the state, Ella Iowa Malcolm. A Methodist. Serving second term in the legislature. A democrat.
