Representative from Franklin county, was born February 9, 1881, on a farm in Benton county, Iowa. He was the son of M. F. McNie, who served as the representative from Benton county in the twenty-ninth, thirtieth and thirty-first general assemblies. Graduate of the public school and of Tilford academy, Vinton, Iowa in 1900. He married Bertha Eggleston in 1903, and they have two children, Mrs. T. R. Smith and Jean A. McNie. Was a farmer and breeder of Duroc hogs until 1919. Was assistant county agent of Benton county in 1920 and was county agricultural agent of Franklin county farm bureau in 1921 and 1922. Manager of Farmer's Grain and Lumber Company for 13 years. Served two terms as president of the Hampton board of education and as president of the Hampton Rotary club. Is a member of the Church of Christ and a Mason. Serving second term in legislature. A republican.
