Nevada. Representative from Story county, was born on a farm near Panora, Iowa, April 25, 1876. Attended county school and the Guthrie county high school. Left the farm at the age of twenty-one and entered the memorial craftsman business. In 1911 he entered the electric utility business and carried on both businesses until 1925, when he sold out the utility business. On September 26, 1900, he married Addie Reitz and they have one daughter, Mrs. A. L. Loucks of Baltimore, Maryland. He lived in Sac county three years and then moved back to Maxwell, Iowa, in Story county. He served as mayor of Maxwell, and in 1918 moved to Nevada, Iowa, Story county. Elected mayor of Nevada and served two terms. He was president of the chamber of commerce at Nevada for one year. He has been a minister of the gospel for thirty years, and is a member of the Methodist church. A member of the Masonic and I.O.O.F. orders and also a member of the Rotary club. Serving third term in the legislature. A republican.
