Representative from Buena Vista county, was born on a farm near Laurens, Iowa, August 10, 1886; educated in rural schools of Pocahontas county and in Laurens high school. Completed a commercial course in spring of 1908 at Highland Park college, graduated from the agronomy division Iowa State college in 1915. Member of Adelante fraternity and Alpha Zeta honorary agricultural fraternity. Spent the following three years as instructor and athletic coach at Waldorf junior college located in Forest City. Married August 24, 1916, to Dessie A. Walker of Knoxville, Iowa. Has three children, George, Dorothy, and Betty. In the spring of 1918, moved to Hillcrest Farm, near Albert City, Iowa, which he owns and has operated as a cattle and hog feeding unit. Has served his community and county as secretary of local cooperative electric company; president of local telephone company; president of the Albert City community association; secretary of local live stock shipping association; state director of Iowa Cooperative live stock shippers; director of farm bureau; president of county corn warehouse board; president of united taxpayers of Buena Vista county. At present he is a director and vice president of the farmers cooperative elevator at Albert City; president of Pleasant View school board and president of the conservative national farm loan association at Sioux Rapids, Iowa. Member of Methodist Episcopal church, Laurens, Iowa. Serving first term in legislature. A democrat.
