Harvey. Representative from Marion county, was born in Morgan county, Ohio. He moved with his parents to a farm in Jasper county, Iowa in 1858, when he was four years old. After leaving country school he took a three-year course in the Hazel Dell academy at Newton, Iowa. He was married in 1876 to Miss Angeline Jacobs, who passed away in 1907. They had four children, three daughters and one son. In 1881 he and his family moved to Des Moines where he was engaged in the furniture business for fifteen years. For several years he conducted an excelsior manufacturing plant and later engaged in the walnut timber and lumber business. He is the only living charter member of the Center Star lodge I. O. O. F. of Des Moines, Iowa. For seven years Mr. Clements was deputy clerk of the district court, in Marion county, at Knoxville. A democrat.
