Representative from Tama county, was born April 17, 1888 on a farm near Gladbrook and was educated in the rural schools of Tama county, later attended Charles City college, receiving his B.A. degree from there in 1912, then attended the State University of Iowa, receiving his master's degree from there in 1913. Member of the Sigma Chi honorary science fraternity. Began farming on a farm in Grundy county in 1916 and in 1929 moved to a farm in Tama county. Served as director of Beaman consolidated school five years, as president of Tama County Farm Bureau three years, as superintendent of young people in Tama county council of Christian education five years and is now a member of the Iowa State Council of Christian Education, and of the M.E. church. Married and has five children, Warren, Richard and Doris, students of Iowa State college and Jean and Merle attending the Gladbrook high school. Serving first term in legislature. A democrat.
