Representative from Sioux County was born in Platte, South Dakota, June 28, 1883. He lived his youth, attended school and grew to young manhood in this vicinity. Mr. Beltman resided 15 years at Hospers, Iowa, on a farm. He was united in marriage to Miss Hattie Top of Newkirk, Iowa, on June 6, 1912. She preceded him in death in 1919. He was again married to Miss Minnie Boomgars in 1921. After their marriage, they farmed in Newkirk, Iowa. They later moved to Sanborn, Iowa, where he was engaged in the operation of a Gamble store until 1950, when they moved to Sheldon, Iowa. Mr. Beltman was a member of the Dutch Reform Church. He was active in the community and served as an officer of various co-operative movements for the past 30 years. Serving first term in the legislature. A republican.
