Representative from Greene county, was born on a farm near Rippey, Iowa, December 19, 1878. Graduated from the Washington township high school with the class of '99. Taught several terms of district school. Was married to Nora Morain, November 16, 1901 and has one child, Lorene Derry of Rippey, Iowa. With the exception of four years, which he attended the grade schools in Des Moines, and three years in business in Rippey, his entire life was spent on a farm. Served in various civic organizations, such as town council, school boards, etc. Was two years on the county allotment committee of Greene county, acting as chairman of the committee in 1936. Serving first term in the legislature. A democrat.
