Albia Monroe County Republican. Born on a farm near Albia, Iowa, May 15, 1873, son of John H. and Mary J. (Van Schoiack) Wood. Educated in the Albia schools. Married to Alice M. Jewell of Geneva, Nebraska, May 8, 1895; father of three children: Mildred Lucille (deceased), George W. of Albia, and John R. of Muscatine. Engaged in the hardware business in Albia for twenty years; six years a member of the city council; four years mayor of Albia; seven years assistant postmaster, twelve years postmaster. Member of the Christian church, the Masonic and Elks lodges, Albia Commercial club and Monroe County Farm Bureau. Serving second term in the legislature.

Representative from Monroe county, was born on a farm near Albia, Iowa, May 15, 1873. His parents, John H. Wood and Mary J. (Van Schoiack) Wood, were pioneer residents of Monroe county. He was educated in the public schools and the high school of Albia. On May 8, 1895, he was married to Alice M. Jewell of Geneva, Nebraska, and to this union were born three children: Mildred Lucille, deceased, George W. and John R., both residing in Albia. Since 1919, he has been engaged in the hardware business in Albia. For six years, he was a member of the city council and served four years as mayor of Albia. Served for twelve years as postmaster of Albia and was president of the Albia public library board for twelve years. Member of the Christian church, the Masonic lodge and charter member of the Albia commercial club and the Monroe County Farm Bureau. Serving his first term in the legislature. A republican.
