Bedford Taylor County Republican Born in Des Moines, Iowa, September 3, 1896. Son of R. V. and Maude Lucas, Oelwein, Iowa. Attended school in Earlville, Bedford and Mason City, graduating from Mason City high school in 1915. Graduated from Law College, University of Nebraska, in 1921. Started practice of law in Bedford in 1921, with Hon. J. P. Flick, his grandfather, who served in the Iowa legislature and the national congress. Served in U. S. Army in France during the World War. Married in 1923 to Ethel Dowell of Bedford; father of two daughters, Jeanette and Kathleen. Served as Taylor county attorney two terms, and as Bedford city attorney. Member of Alpha Sigma Phi, Phi Alpha Delta, American Legion, Masonic lodge and Methodist church. A reserve army officer. Serving second term in the legislature.
