Palo Alto County Democrat. Born at Carlisle, Iowa, March 15, 1880, son of Benjamin Kessler and Martha Randleman Keeney, early settlers of Warren county. Graduated from Carlisle high school in 1901; the liberal arts college of Drake University, 1906; and Drake University school of medicine, 1908. Interned at Iowa Methodist Hospital, Des Moines. Post graduate work at Harvard University. Instructor and coach at Central College, Pella, Iowa, 1909-1910. Married to Alice Maude Webster, 1909; father of two daughters; Marguerite, Mrs. George Johnson, Los Angeles, Calif., and Ruth who is doing post-graduate work at the Eastman Music School, Rochester, N.Y. Since 1910, associated in practice of medicine in Mallard with Dr. E. D. Beatty. Has farms in Palo Alto and Emmet counties. President of the Mallard school board for 27 years; member county board of education for 24 years. An officer in the Upper Des Moines Medical Society. Member of the Church of Christ, and Masonic lodge. Former member First Signal Company, Iowa National Guard. Third term in legislature.
