Entered the practice of law in Chariton, Iowa, in 1933. In 1936 married to Mary Louise Foster. Member of the Knights of Pythias, Rotary Club, Independent Order of Odd Fellows, Delta Theta Phi, and national secretary of Pi Kappa Alpha, first lieutenant in the 350th Infantry, Reserve. Methodist. Serving third term in legislature.
