Taylor County Republican Born on a farm in Benton township, Taylor county, Iowa, May 24, 1902. Attended grade school in Bedford and was graduated from high school there in 1921. Was deputy sheriff one and one-half years, worked for Phillips Petroleum for seven years, but remainder of his life engaged in active farming. Now farms on his own 120-acre farm near Gravity. Married Ruth King of Blockton, Taylor County, Iowa, in Cheyenne, Wyoming, June 5, 1930. They have two children, James Paul 13, and Martha Jane 6. Member of Methodist Church, Farm Bureau, Masonic Lodge, (Past Master), Royal Arch Chapter, (Past High Priest). Served in 50th extra session; now serving first full term.
