Ottumwa Wapello County Republican Born in Des Moines, Iowa, January 13, 1900. Graduated from East high, Des Moines, in 1917, Iowa State college, 1921. Teacher of agriculture in the Ottumwa high school, 1921-23. Masters degree from Columbia university 1924. Superintendent schools at Bonaparte, 1924-25, at Humeston, 1925-27. Graduate work in educational administration at Stanford in summer of 1926 and at Chicago university summer of 1927. Teacher in Toledo, Ohio, in fall of 1927; since then at the Ottumwa high school. Married Evelyn Stevens of Sidney, Montana, in 1928. Two children, Richard, 16, and Ruth, 15. Member of Y.M.C.A., American Legion, Presbyterian church. Served in 48th and 50th General Assemblies.

Member American Legion Auxiliary, Y.M.C.A., Presbyterian church. Serving second term.

Graduated from East high school, Des Moines; studied one year at Drake University; received B.S. degree in agricultural education, Iowa State College; master's degree from Columbia University; took graduate work at Stanford and Chicago Universities. Spent two and one-half months in U.S. Army. Served in varying capacities as teacher and educational administrator at Bonaparte, Humeston, and Ottumwa. Noted for progressive work with gardens and poultry. Married to Evelyn Stevens, Sidney, Montana, June, 1928; father of two children, Richard Paul and Ruth Evelyn. Member of Kiwanis Club, American Legion; Y.M.C.A. director; Sunday school superintendent. First term in legislature.
