Winterset Madison County Republican Born in Polk county, Iowa, 1902; the oldest son of J. A. and Sara Smith; educated, Monticello, Minnesota, high school, University of Minnesota, and Mount Morris college, Mount Morris, Illinois; spent eight years as credit investigator on Pacific coast, presently engaged as oil jobber and merchant at Winterset; married Laurine Peterson of Ankeny, Iowa; member of Methodist church, Masonic lodge, Order of the Eastern Star, I.O.O.F. and Lions club. Serving first term.
