He spent the intervening years there working on farms, in stores and taking a bookkeeping course at the Davenport Business college, before going to Ida county, where he has since lived, engaging in the farming and feeding business. Married Ellen Goodman of Correctionville, Iowa, in 1932. He has three daughters by a previous marriage; Mrs. Claudo Raybourn, Cheyenne, Mrs. W. J. Johnson, Iowa City, and Mrs. Chester Chalman, Galva, Iowa. Served three terms as Ida county supervisor, and is a member of the Methodist church, Odd Fellows, Masons, Eastern Star and White Shrine. Serving fourth term in legislature.
