Has two children, a daughter, Neala Kay, and a son, Matt L. III. Active in club work and community affairs. Serving third term on Ottumwa board of education, was its president in 1945. Former secretary of Wapello county chapter of American Red Cross. Member of the First Methodist Church. Serving second term in the House.
