Melrose Monroe County Republican Born in Monroe county, Iowa, July 24, 1890. Attended rural school in Monroe county, high school in Russell and Albia, Iowa. Iowa State College Ex' 14. Married Maude Isabelle Jenkins March 5, 1914 in Russell, Iowa. Five children, all married; Marian Mae Henderson, Ithaca, New York; Sterling B. Jr., Melrose, Iowa; and David F. Princeton, New Jersey; all graduates of Iowa State College, and twin daughters Ruth Eleanor Pickerell, of Chariton, Iowa and Ruth Eloise Hainline Rock Island, Ill., who attended University of Iowa. Farmed in Lucas county and Monroe county 1914 1932; and 1941 to present, on original farmstead, secured by great grandfather from Government in 1846. County Agriculturist Agent, Lucas county, 1932-1941. Charter member of Farm Bureau, director, fourteen years; county president and voting delegate 1928-1932. Member of Monroe county Board of Education. Member of Methodist church. Serving first term.
